What is a driver’s License?
A driver’s license is a legal authorization, or the official document confirming such an authorization, for a specific individual to operate one or more types of motorized vehicles—such as motorcycles, cars, trucks, or buses—on a public road. Such licenses are often plastic and the size of a credit card.
Is driving license American or British?
While the American English has driver’s license, the British uses driving licence. Therefore, that document that qualifies a person to drive a car or vehicle should be called a driving license, as is accepted in the standard British English.
How do I get a driving licence in Namibia?
Here’s how to apply for your driving license:
1. Visit your nearest NaTIS office Mondays to Fridays between 8:00 – 15:30. Confirm NaTIS office hours in your town here >>> .
2. Bring your Namibian ID, a certified copy of your ID and N$160 for the application fee.
3. Complete the application form, available at NaTIS centres.
4. Book your timeslot. Practise driving regularly and consider taking driving lessons – ideally you should start practising before making your booking.
5. Take the driving test. Make sure you arrive on time and stay calm.
6. If you passed, go to the NaTIS office with your ID, a certified copy of your ID and N$200 for the issuing fee.
7. If you failed, you can make a new booking after 28 days (weekends included).
