How to get your Driver’s Licence in Namibia?

A driver’s license certifies the holder’s ability to operate designated motorized vehicles on public roads. It is required in order to obtain and operate the applicable type of vehicle, as specified by local laws

Drivers licenses are often plastic and the size of a credit card.

How do I check if my driving Licence is ready?

If and when you want to check if your Driving license is ready;

  1. Log into your eCitizen account.
  2. Select NTSA tab.
  3. Then select on check status.
  4. You will then get a notification regarding whether your License is prepared or not.

How to Renew your Driver’s Licence in Namibia?

Take the following documents to your nearest NaTIS office:

1. Driving Licence Renewal Notice; Renew your old licence if it’s still valid. Application for renewal of driving licence form is not available.

2. Certified copy of Namibian ID; A valid Namibian Driving License Card is required to enter the traffic register.

3. Expired DL Card: •If you have your driving licence expired more than 5 years, you must fill in the affidavit if it is not presented. If you no longer need the document anymore and are renewing the licence by filling in a letter, it can be made 10 days before or after the expiry date of your licence. Complete Retest will be required for Learners Licence (Regulation 113, as amended).

4. Fees for production of the card (an additional money for Professional Authorisation holders (PA) is charged).

5. It takes around 3-6 weeks to get the driving licence card. If you apply after the expiry, there is a fee & extra time needed so make sure to plan ahead.
