The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) in Namibia provides temporary financial help to workers who have lost their jobs because of no fault of their own. The aim of the fund is to help workers tide over during this difficult period and to help them search for new employment.
UIF benefits are paid out in the form of a percentage of the worker’s salary, up to a maximum of N$2 000 per month. The amount that a worker receives depends on how much they were earning at the time they lost their job.
To be eligible for UIF benefits, workers must have been employed for at least four months before losing their job. They must also be able to show that they have actively been looking for new employment.
If you have lost your job and think you may be eligible for UIF benefits, you should contact the UIF office in your region to find out more.
