Being a pilot can be an incredibly rewarding profession. You get to travel the world, work with advanced technology, and experience so much more of what life has to offer. But in order to become a pilot, you’ll have to put in some hard work and commit some money as well. The good news is that it isn’t necessarily as expensive as you might think – as long as you pick the right country to study in! Here’s how much it will cost you to become a commercial pilot in Namibia.
The high price of flight school
While the cost of flight school varies from country to country, the costs for training in Namibia are quite high. A pilot course at the African Flight Training Academy can cost up to $5,000 while other flight schools charge as much as $65,000. There are scholarship and financial aid opportunities available for those who qualify.
The hidden costs of becoming a pilot
Pilot training can cost anywhere from $200,000 to $500,000. This includes the cost of flight instruction and ground school. The best way to start looking at pilot costs is by looking at the four major steps: getting your license, getting your instrument rating, finishing flight school and then starting work as a professional pilot. If you want an idea of what these costs might be in Namibian dollars, we’ll cover that too!
How to make pilot training more affordable
If you’re interested in becoming a pilot, but don’t have the time or money to devote to the training, there are other routes you can take. If you’re considering becoming an airline pilot, there are many scholarships available for minority students who want to pursue this career. The Airline Pilots Association (ALPA) offers an annual scholarship that awards one minority student $10,000 for tuition and fees for up to three years.
