St. John’s University of Tanzania SJUT Online Application 2025-2026
Admission to St John’s University of Tanzania is open to all qualified candidates as per entry requirements. Postgraduate, Bachelor degree and Non degree applicants should apply through the St John’s University of Tanzania Online Application System (SJUT – OAS) through the University website www.sjut.ac.tz or collect an application form from the admissions office or download the application form from our website.
All other applicants must follow the steps below:
Application fee is TZS 10,000/= for those who will apply through Online Application System (SJUT – OAS) payments should be done through M-Pesa, Tigo-Pesa or Airtel-Money as per procedures given in SJUT – OAS, and those who will use application form payments must be done through to SJUT Income Account maintained by CRDB Bank A/C No. 01J1082864000 referring to the applicant’s name.
Send the filled in application form to the University Admissions Office:
- Two duly filled in application forms.
- Two stamp size coloured photographs with applicant’s name written on the back.
- Two copies of certificates and/or result slips for O-Level or equivalent.
- Two copies of certificates and/or result slips for A-Level or equivalent.
- Two copies of birth certificate and/or affidavit.
- The original bank pay-in-slip for the payment of the non-refundable application fee.

St. John’s University of Tanzania SJUT Application Requirements
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
All applicants for postgraduate, Bachelor degree, and non degree of the University must have the approval of St. John’s University of Tanzania Admissions Committee and Senate in order to be accepted and register. Students applying for entry at St John’s University of Tanzania are required to fulfil the General University Entry Requirements, the Faculty or School Specific Requirements and Degree/Diploma/Certificate Programme Requirements as explained below.
GENERAL UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Direct Entry Requirements
CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES
A candidate must have a minimum of four passes in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) to qualify for a certificate programme.
DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
A candidate must have a minimum of four passes in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) plus a certificate of one year with 2.0 GPA to qualify for a diploma programme. Alternatively, candidates who have completed Form VI with a minimum of one pass in a relevant subject can qualify for a diploma programme.
BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMMES
A candidate is required to have a Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in four approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the ACSEE.
A candidate for a bachelor degree of the University must have an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with at least two passes or their equivalent. The applicant must have attained a total score of at least 4.0 points for the degree in Arts or Science with Education; for Bachelor of Science in Nursing an applicant must have at least three principal passes (Chemistry C, Biology D and Physics/Mathematics/Nutrition E) or their equivalent with a total score of at least 6 points and Bachelor of Pharmacy an applicant must have at least three principal passes (Chemistry C, Biology C and Physics D) or their equivalent with a total score of at least 8 points. (Where A= 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2 and E = 1). A principal pass is D or above.
Holders of diplomas from recognised and accredited institutions should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA for non-health programmes and 3.5 GPA for health allied programmes to qualify for equivalent entry.
POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
A candidate for admission to a master degree of St. John’s University of Tanzania (SJUT) shall:
Hold at least a second class bachelor degree (GPA of at least 2.7) of SJUT relevant to the chosen postgraduate programme OR A professional qualification which is deemed relevant and equivalent.
Candidates who hold unclassified degrees should have a B average (distinction or a credit) in the subject of the intended Masters Degree.
FOREIGN APPLICANTS
Entry requirements for foreign applicants will be those which are equivalent to the entry requirements of Tanzanians. Candidates from outside East Africa should seek accreditation status of their certificates from NECTA, NACTE or TCU.
OTHER ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have proof of sufficient funds for the completion of the programme.
St. John’s University of Tanzania SJUT Registration
All international students must report to DICA on arrival to go through general registration formalities. Then, students will be directed to their respective Colleges/Schools/Institutes.
Before registration, all fresh International Students are required to attend the Orientation in order to learn more about their academic programmes and other registration procedures.
The University will only register students who have either paid all their fees, be it for a semester or per year.

The applications must be submitted through the applicant’s University College/International Office which should, if it supports the application, send a letter of recommendation to the university.

St. John’s University of Tanzania SJUT is currently inviting applications for its postgraduate programmes for the 2025-2026 academic year. Applicants must register for an account in the admission system and make payment for the application fee. The application form for the 2025-2026 academic year is open to all interested applicants, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or national origin. All applicants must provide documentation of their qualifications and the application fee must be paid online.
St. John’s University of Tanzania SJUT Visiting Students
International students who stay at St. John’s University of Tanzania SJUT for more than one week and less than one semester are categorized as Visiting Students.
Visiting students must identify themselves with an academic unit (Colleges, Schools and Institutes), at St. John’s University of Tanzania SJUT and registered for either academic or/and research purposes.
Applications for enrolment as visiting students should be submitted to respective academic units.
