The University of Namibia is the only university in Namibia which offers courses leading to qualifications for health care professionals. The school was established in 1982 and since then has provided for the education of over 4,000 health care professionals. The University charges an annual fee of N$7,500 for undergraduate students and N$10,000 for postgraduate students. Whilst these fees are high by local standards, they compare favourably with fees at other African universities.

The average length of time it takes to complete a medical degree in Namibia

The length of time required for a medical degree in Namibia depends on the specific course. The four-year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery programme takes longer than the two-year Diploma in Medical Sciences, for instance.

The type of financial aid available for medical students in Namibia

The Namibian government provides free tuition for the first three years of study. International students can benefit from government scholarships and interest-free student loans. However, these only cover the costs of tuition fees, not food or accommodation.
