How Much Can Pensioners Claim in Namibia?

Namibia is a developing country, but it is still one of the best places to live and retire. Namibian pensioners are entitled to receive their pension in three ways:

  • Pensioners can withdraw their pensions from any bank or post office nationwide. They can also request their pensions by email through the Namibian Post Office website at www.postoffice.namibia.com
  • Pensioners can also collect their pensions in person at any post office branch throughout Namibia where they will be issued with a receipt which they must produce when claiming payments later on at any bank branch as proof that they have already collected their cash payment successfully!
  • Finally, pensioners can also choose to have their money transferred electronically into an account opened with one of several financial institutions which offer such facilities (find more info about this below).

  • Proof of residence. This is usually a copy of your identity document and/or passport.
  • Death certificate of husband/wife (where applicable). The pensioner must complete an affidavit stating that they were married at the time of their spouse’s death, or they must produce a marriage certificate.
  • Copy of ID of a spouse. This can be in any format (e.g. photocopy). If you do not have this document available, please submit a Statutory Declaration form instead; copies will be made from this form upon request from the Namibian authorities.
  • You must be 60 years or older.
  • You must have resided in Namibia for at least 20 years.
  • You may qualify if you cannot work due to a disability, illness or injury, and your condition is likely to last for over three months.

This is a document that shows your address. It must be in English or Afrikaans and show your name and address. The document must also be dated within the last 6 months, and it can’t be older than 3 years. Your proof of residence must be a copy of the original document (your original birth certificate).
