Available Courses and Entry Criteria for the March 2023 Intake

Below are the advertised courses for the March 2023 admission and their corresponding entry requirements which is to guide new applicants for their application.

(i) Bachelor of Nursing Science – 4 Years Full Time

A candidate who wishes to enroll in the degree program within the Clara Barton School of Nursing must comply with the following admission criteria:

Entry Requirements:

  • Must have obtained at least 25 points in Six (6) subjects and a D or better symbol in English according to the APS scale.
  • For Grade 11 (New Curriculum), the candidate must have at least 30 points with a C or better symbol in English according to the APS scale.
  • Should have at least three science subjects (Mathematics, Physical Science, Chemistry, Biology, and Development Studies.
  • Enrolled nurses with more than a year of working experience may apply with minimum of 22 points and an E symbol in English at Grade 12 level.
  • Should pass the Aptitude test to gain final admission

(ii) Certificate in Enrolled Nursing And Midwifery – 2 Years Full time

A candidate who wishes to enroll in the certificate program within the Clara Barton School of Nursing must comply with the following admission criteria:

Entry Requirements:

  • Must have obtained at least 22 points in Six (6) subjects and an E in English according to the APS scale in grade 12 OR 27 points in Six (6) subjects and a D in English according to the APS scale in grade 11 (New Curriculum).
  • Should have two of the following science subjects; Mathematics, Physical Science, Chemistry, Biology, and Development Studies.
  • Should pass the Aptitude test to gain final admission

(iii) Diploma in Environmental Health Science – 2 Years Full time

A candidate who wishes to enroll for the Diploma in Environmental Health Science must comply with the following admission criteria:

Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum of 23 Points in Six (6) in Grade 12 with E symbol in English OR 27 points in Six (6) subjects in grade 11 (New Curriculum) with a D in English.
  • Should have two of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physical Science and Chemistry.
  • Should pass the entry test to gain final admission

(iv) Postgraduate Diploma in Community Health Nursing – 1 Year Full-Time / Part-Time

A candidate who wishes to enroll for the Postgraduate Diploma in Community Health Nursing should comply with the following criteria.

Entry Requirements:

  • A registered General Nurse and Midwife
  • Should be registered with HPCNA
  • Have worked at least for two (2) years after basic nurse training
  • Write a one-page motivational letter giving reasons for taking the course

(v) Certificate in Pharmacy Assistant – 2 Years Full-Time

A candidate who wishes to enroll for the Certificate in Pharmacy Assistant should comply with the following admission criteria:

Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum of 22 Points in Six (6) Subjects in Grade 12 with E symbol in English; OR 27 points in Six (6) subjects in grade 11(New Curriculum) with a D symbol in English.
  • Should have two of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physical Science and Chemistry
  • Must pass the entry test to gain final admission.

(vi) Certificate in English and Communication – 1 Year Full-Time

A candidate who wishes to enroll for this Programme should comply with the following admission criteria:

Entry Requirements:

  • Have an E Symbol in English or less with at least 27 points in Grade 11 (New curriculum) or F Symbol or less in English with at least 22 Points in Grade 12.
  • This programme is meant for applicants who wish to pursue studies at WHTC but do not have the required Symbol in English.

(vii) Certificate in Health Science Foundation – 1 Year Full-time

A candidate who wishes to enroll Health Science Foundation should comply with the following admission criteria:

Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 points in Grade 12 or Grade 11 new curriculum.
  • Take Note: This Certificate is for those who did not qualify for admission directly into WHTC programmes with their existing points and wish to pursue current WHTC programmes such as nursing etc. among others after completion of the certificate.

(viii) National Vocational Certificate Programmes – 1 Year Full-Time

National Vocational Certificate in Crop and Horticulture Production (Level 3)
National Vocational Certificate in Farm Machinery and Infrastructure (Level 2)
National Vocational Certificate in Farm Machinery and Infrastructure (Level 3)
National Vocational Certificate in Horticulture and Crop Production (Level 2)
National Vocational Certificate in Livestock Husbandry (Level 2)
National Vocational Certificate in Livestock Production (Level 3)

A candidate who wishes to enroll National Vocational Certificates should comply with the following admission criteria:

Entry Requirements:

  • Grade 10 with at least 10 points and E symbol in English may apply for Level 2 Programmes.
  • Should have Physics/Physical Science.
  • Students who had pre-vocational subjects may apply with 18 points in 6 subjects in grade 10 with a D symbol in the pre-vocational subjects and F symbol in English, Mathematics and Physical Science.
